Mystical Journey Notecards

Marvin Oliver, of Quinault and Isleta-Pueblo heritage, was one of the leading contemporary printmakers and sculptors in the Pacific Northwest. Over his long career, Oliver worked in a variety of media including cedar, bronze, steel and glass. His efforts and artwork have been instrumental in the development and recognition of Native American Contemporary Fine Art. Born in 1946, Marvin Oliver passed away in 2019.

This notecard is a replica of an original limited edition silk-screen serigraph created in 2005 by Marvin Oliver. It depicts Orca migrating through the waters of the Pacific Ocean, with Raven riding in his body and forming the dorsal fin. An embossed Eagle appers in the mist from the Orca's blowhole. Orca is said to protect those who travel away from home and lead them back when the time comes. The Raven is the transformer, trickster and creator. The Eagle is seen as a symbol of power and presige and has a strong connection to peace. The design is created in the Northwest Coast style.
