  • Wispy Fine Cashmere

Begg's Wispy Fine Cashmere is the finest cashmere being made in Scotland. It is made using a patented technique of which Begg are one of the only licensees, as the wispy yarn is too fine to weave on its own, it is combined with a secondary supporting yarn which helps it through the weaving process but then is dissolved in the finishing process leaving the lovely soft handle. There are 8km/5miles of yarn in every single scarf!

Cashmere wool is the undercoat of Cashmere goats. This fine fibre provides natural, lightweight insulation without bulk.

Cashmere goats produce a double fleece with the undercoat having very fine (around 15 mm diameter) fibres. The wool is either shorn from the goats or combed during the spring moulting, after which the soft undercoat is mechanically separated from the coarse outer coat or guard hairs. The resulting qualtiy of the cashmere will depend onn the purity, length of fibres and color. High quality cashmere has long been a preferred fibre for the finest scarves.

  • Begg Scotland
Alex Begg & Company was established in 1869, making traditional hand-woven shawls in the Scottish town of Paisley. In 1902 the business re-located to the Ayrshire coast where they are still based today. Begg Scotland still very much adopts a crafted approach to its production, blending modern weaving techniques and artistry to create some of the finest cashmere and wool scarves available.
  • Scottish Thistle
The thistle is the national flower of Scotland. At one time a band of English soldiers were sneaking up on a group of Scots at night when one of them stepped on a thistle and cried out, so alerting the Scots. Since then the thistle has held a place of honor in Scotland.
