Dear Customers and Friends,
We at David Morgan LLC, like most of the world, are impacted by the disruptions to our lives and business by COVID-19. In these stressful times, we’d like to share with you what we are doing to minimize the impact to our customers, to our staff and to our small family owned and operated business.
We remain healthy and open for business online, by phone and by mail. Our retail store has reopened. We follow CDC and Washington state suggested best practices, and are fortunate to have a work environment that is easily cleaned with good physical distancing.
Look for updates below as we navigate through these tough times.
10/15/2021 Good news! We were saddened to hear of the death of Richard Hill, designer and manufacturer of our hat stretcher, in March 2021. We are pleased to report sale of the Hat Jack company to the Greeley Hat Works, another locally owned Colorado company, has recently been completed and the Hat Jack gang have resumed operations. Although we are unsure how quickly the company will be able to fill our outstanding orders, we are now taking back orders. We have sold their Hat Stretcher for over 25 years and look forward to future sales, helping our customers take good care of their hats.
10/4/2021 We are still facing continued supply challenges, in particular with our Akubra hats, Geier Moccasins and some Panama hats. And our fall/winter print catalog! We are beginning to receive stock of our new fall items, including Stanfield’s Wool Placket Shirt with Hood and the Slope Hat, a wool felt fedora by Stefeno.
6/30/2021 COVID-19 restrictions have further relaxed in King County with over 70% vaccinated. Our retail store in Bothell, WA is fully open. Masks are requested for anyone who is not fully vaccinated. Our curb side pick up is still available.
6/28/2021 Unfortunately we are still seeing extended delays from some of our vendors including Akubra, Prison Blues and some of our Panama hats. Thanks to our customers for their patience as we wait for!
5/4/2021 We have just learnt that we will be unable to obtain more Driza-Bone stock at this time, due to supply chain constraints. We hope to restock these Made in Australia coats once Driza-Bone is able to return to pre-pandemic production capacity.
4/28/2021: Good News: We’ve just received a large and timely shipment of Panama hats and our next shipment of Akubras should arrive in the next few weeks. Not so good news is that Prison Blues is still facing pandemic related delays so lengthy back orders continue for these Made in USA work garments.
3/23/21: Our Retail Store is Open! With COVID-19 infections down, and following CDC and Washington State guidelines for Phase 3, we have re-opened our retail store for in person shopping. Masks are required! Our hours are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
2/17/21: Akubra Hats — Our ship has (almost) come in! After more than 3 months’ delay, a large shipment of Akubra hats has reached Seattle’s port. We’ve updated our online inventory and will take back orders for these hats which we hope to have on our warehouse shelves by February 25. One note: Akubra has discontinued manufacturing hats with chin strap hooks (apart from the Aussie Slouch). We will have mixed stock of most styles that previously had chin strap hooks. Our Stampede String and Akubra’s Breakaway Chin Strap attach easily to hats with and without chin strap hooks.
Happy Holidays! We will be closed on Friday, December 25, Saturday, December 26 and Friday, January 1, giving all our hard working staff a much deserved break. Although we continue to ship in stock items promptly (usually the same or next business day), we understand deliveries by all the major carriers might be delayed due to overwhelming volume, winter storms and pandemic related challenges. Thank you Customers, for your understanding in these unprecedented times. (12/20/20)
Holiday Hours! We are now open on Saturdays through November and December until Christmas, ready to take and process your orders online and by phone. Unfortunately, we are still unable to open our retail store in Bothell, Washington. We are offering curbside order pick-up. [Learn More]
Outages: Demand has outstripped our supply and we are currently out of stock of our KBE-3 Hummingbird Earrings. We are accepting back orders but do not expect to be able to ship these handcrafted earrings until after Christmas. May we suggest you consider our other Hummingbird Jewelry if you desire delivery before Christmas? (12/7/20)
Continued Delays: We continue to see pandemic related delivery delays from some of our vendors, in particular Prison Blues. We are accepting back orders, and will ship in the order received once we receive stock. Thanks for your patience. (10/12/20)
Moccasins: The pandemic has delayed supplies of both leather and thread needed for Geier Glove’s moccasin production. We expect to have stock by early October. We thank our customers for their patience and are confident these moccasins, hand crafted here in Washington state, are worth the wait. (9/17/20)
Akubra Hats — Akubra’s manufacturing has been disrupted by COVID-19. To ensure success once the world emerges from the pandemic, Akubra has limited the hat styles and colors they will produce until further notice. These changes affect about half the hats we offer. At this time, we will not take back orders for hats we don’t have in stock or in transit to us. We currently have great stock of most styles, and have a large order expected in late 2020 covering many of the most popular styles. If you are looking for a particular style, color and size which is no longer offered, please contact us and we will let you know when we have new stock. A few of the styles we offer have been permanently discontinued and are now on sale. [Sale Hats]
Panamas — We’ve received our long-delayed Panama hat shipment! We have good stock now of almost all our panama hats, with more coming in soon. We do thank our customers for their extraordinary patience as our manufacturer got back up to speed after the state’s COVID-19 shutdown order. (7/9/20)
Stanfield’s — Stanfield’s had to shut down their manufacturing in Nova Scotia in response to the coronavirus. They are now in the process of reopening and we hope to be fully stocked by mid August. At this time, we are not accepting back orders. Please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to be notified when we have your desired Stanfield’s garment available. (6/23/20)
Prison Blues — Prison Blues has been tasked by the State of Oregon to produce cloth utility masks in response to the increased demand due to the pandemic. At this time their ability to fulfill our orders as promptly as usual is limited. We are accepting back orders for those items we don’t have in stock, and will update customers if delays increase. (6/23/20)
Curbside Order Pick-up! — We are now offering curbside order pick-up for our customers living in the greater Seattle area. [Learn More]
Our Spring/Summer 2020 Catalog can now be downloaded or viewed online. [View Catalog] (5/5/20)
Returns and Exchanges — We are accepting orders, exchanges and returns with our reduced staffing. Please only send us your exchanges or returns at this time if you can do so safely. Our generous 90 day return and exchange policy will be extended as needed. (4/30/20)
Akubra Hat Shipment — This past week we finally received a large shipment of Akubra hats, some of which were originally expected back in January. Delayed by global shipping disruptions, we were very pleased to have these hats! We still have a few outages, awaiting our next shipments, but most styles are well stocked, including the Kiandra. (4/15/20)
Accepting Online Orders We’ve increased our work from home capabilities, and our essential staff are processing and shipping orders, keeping our item availabilities up to date. Thanks for your support. (4/2/20)
Accepting Online Orders — We are reducing our staff to the minimum essential level effective 3/26 as we search for clarity on Governor Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order. We will continue to accept and process online orders to the best of our ability during this time. Thanks for your patience and support. (3/25/20)
Returns and Exchanges — Governor Inslee has issued a “Stay Home – Stay Healthy” order for Washington state to slow the spread of COVID-19. Non-essential businesses will be closed by Wednesday March 23 for at least two weeks. Please delay sending us any items for return or exchange at this time. Our generous 90 day return and exchange policy will be extended as needed. We will update this page when we know more. (3/24/20)
Retail Store Temporarily Closed — We have temporarily closed our retail store in Bothell, Washington. We are otherwise open for business online, by phone and by mail. (3/20/20)
We are open. We are well stocked of most our inventory and usually ship orders the same business day. Consider purchasing one of our Panama Hats, ideal for walks in the neighborhood while working from home. Bring joy to your mother with an early Mother’s Day gift. We can ship your purchase directly to the recipient. (3/18/20)
We are holding our prices through the summer. Our Spring and Summer print catalog was days away from being submitted to the printer when the COVID-19 pandemic worsened. Rather than risk high printing costs and low customer response, we made the tough decision not to print. (3/17/20)
Akubra Hats. Our sea shipments from Australia have seen delays of 4 to 8 weeks, at this stage mostly from the ripple effect of so many Asian port closures. We are still well stocked of most styles, such as the Banjo Paterson but have very few Cattleman hats in our warehouse. We are accepting back orders, but the expected delivery times are longer than we like and beyond our control. Customers ordering out of stock hats will be informed of the expected delay. We do not charge for any back ordered item until we ship. (3/16/20)
