| Old Leather |
| The leather used in most of the items we offer from Bosca is their oak tanned Old Leather -- Bosca's finest bovine leather. Oak tanning requires a lengthy process, more costly than the chemical tanning commonly used today. Oak tanning shrinks the leather, giving a tighter more dense structure, which stands up to wear better. Cowhides are hand-stained in Italy and brought to a fine finish to display the subtle variations in grain and color of the Old Leather. The shine of the Old Leather is developed through polishing the leather itself, rather than by applying an artificial top coat, and over time matures to a mellow matte finish. |
